Andrew Burke - Biography

Professor Andrew Burke is the founding Director of the Bettany Centre for Entrepreneurial Performance and Economics at Cranfield University, UK. He is also the Director of Graduate Programmes and a member of the Executive at Cranfield School of Management. Previously, he has been on the faculty of Warwick Business School, the University of Edinburgh, Trinity College Dublin, Balliol College Oxford and the University of St. Andrews. He was a Research Professor of the Entrepreneurship Group at the Max Planck Institute of Economics, Germany from 2003-2009 and a Visiting Associate Professor at the Anderson School of Management, UCLA in 2002.
Andrew is a founding editor of the International Review of Entrepreneurship (formerly the International Journal of Entrepreneurship Education) and has acted as a guest editor of the International Journal of Industrial Organization. He is on the editorial boards of the International Small Business Journal and the International Journal of Business Innovation and Research.
He invests in a number of business ventures and has acted as a consultant for organisations such as the European Commission, The UK Department of Trade and Industry, Business Links UK, GESAC (EU), Forbairt (formerly the Industrial Development Authority-IDA, now known as Enterprise Ireland), Hudson, Schlumberger, GCI UK, Bank of Ireland International Banking, and the Irish Music Rights Organisation. He is on the judging panels of the Confederation of British Industries’ Growing Business Awards and also the Coutts Family Business Awards.
Andrew is a graduate of the University of Oxford (D.Phil), the London School of Economics (M.Sc) and University College, Dublin (M.A).
